Legendary Bay Area rapper Too Short, real name Todd Anthony Shaw, ran into the long arm of the law Wednesday night after a show at the Knitting Factory in Boise, Idaho. Apparently, Short wanted a little play after his hard work and was trying to get some underage girls backstage when security stepped-in. According to the allegations, the rapper went pretty ballistic when he didn't get his way, fighting with three security workers at the venue and eventually ending up in jail with three counts of misdemeanor assault and battery. Police arrived at the venue shortly after 11PM to investigate the reports by security personnel and eye witnesses to the fight. Eventually, Too Short's associate Michael T. Walton was also charged with two counts of battery in the ensuing melee and both spent early Thursday (July 15) in Ada County Jail where they were released after posting the necessary bond. None of the three security employees were seriously injured.
Now, Short and Walton will have to return to Boise for a court date on August 4. There, the penalty for misdemeanor battery can be punished with up to six months of hard prison time and a $1,000 fine. The arrest caps a couple years of increased legal trouble for Too Short. He was arrested last August for a DUI and possession of drugs in Las Vegas.
